2. Eye on Devotions and History of the
Rosary
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following is a personal account on praying the rosary.
Perhaps you would be willing to share how your devotion to the rosary
started and/or how you currently pray the rosary. Please
consider sending in your story.
The
Healing Rosary of Our Mother of Perpetual Help
"The World's Most Popular Madonna"
Last month, this section listed information on The Healing Rosary of
Our Mother of Perpetual Help. I was introduced to this rosary
through Detroit Catholic Radio over a year ago (It is played every
evening at 7 PM). I found myself immediately drawn to it.
The soothing music in the background, the almost hypnotic voice of the
meditations and prayers just drew me in. I had to
have a copy. Well, the information provided at the end of the
recording wasn't valid; the website was no longer around.
So, I scoured the internet in hopes of finding it and I did. I
ordered a copy for myself. The only problem was, it wasn't
available on CD (I wanted the CD so I could pray it in the car).
For my birthday this year, a friend provided me with a homemade CD
version of the recording. I now pray it every day in the
car. I have found that my commute time is so much more relaxing
(and praying the rosary while driving has pretty much eliminated road
rage). Thank You God For The Healing Rosary Of Our Mother Of
Perpetual Help! My prayer is that it will be available again
soon so that more and more people can partake in this beautiful
recording.

Featured in this section this month are:
The Chaplet of St. Joseph
(St. Joseph Day is May 1st)
and The Chaplet Of Our
Lady of Perpetual Help
(May is Mary's Month)
+ There will be one or more devotions/chaplets featured
in this section every month. +
----------------------------------------------------
The Chaplet of
Saint Joseph
This chaplet is comprised of 15 groups of 4 beads. Each group
consists of 1 white bead and 3 purple beads. The white beads
represent St. Joseph's purity and the purple beads represent his
saintly piety.
On each white bead, reflect on a
mystery of the rosary and say the Hail Mary twice.
On each purple bead, say 'Praised and
blessed be Jesus, Mary and Joseph'
Concluding Prayers (after the 15
groups):
Pray for us, O Holy St. Joseph.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
O God, Who has predestined St. Joseph from all eternity for the service
of Thine eternal Son and His Blessed Mother, and made him worthy to be
the spouse of this blessed Virgin, and the foster-father of Thy
Son: We beseech Thee, through all the services he has rendered to
Jesus and Mary on earth, that Thou wouldst make us worthy of his
intercession, and grant us to enjoy the happiness of his company in
heaven. Through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
----------------------------------------------------
The Chaplet of Our
Lady of Perpetual Help
This chaplet is comprised of one blue bead and 50 red beads. The
blue bead reminds us of Our Lady and the red beads represent comfort and
love.
On the blue bead, say the following:
O Mother of Perpetual Help, we come now in prayer seeking your
assistance in our hour of need. Help us to help ourselves and
one another.
Mention any intention(s) you have at this time.
On each of the red beads, say the following:
Mother of God, comfort and help us.
Concluding Prayer:
Thank you, O Mother of Perpetual Help, for listening and caring for us
and our needs. We trust that with your help, our prayers will be
heard. Our Lady of Perpetual Help continue to help us.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

HOW ON EARTH DID I END UP HERE?
By Patrick J. Distelrath
Last December, our van was stolen
while we were on vacation. My rosary was in the van at the time,
so I needed to find a replacement. I started to look on the
internet. By mid February I was still looking when I came across
the Seeds of Faith website and saw the "FOR SALE" sign.
I didn't think anything of it the first time I saw it, but for some
reason I kept coming back. On the last day of February, I sent an
e-mail to Mike asking for information. We sent a bunch of e-mails
back and forth over the next couple of days. From the e-mail
exchange, I saw that I needed to do some big time praying about
this. Well, I was already to be on retreat that weekend, so I used
the opportunity to pray about exactly what I was supposed to do about
this. While on retreat, every time I reflected on this matter, a
warmth came over my body like I had never experienced before. It
was a warmth which normally would cause me to break out into a
sweat. Well, I wasn't sweating. The warmth was very
calming. It was a warmth which told me that everything was going
to be okay and that this was the direction that I was to head in.
Trust in the Lord. Trust in the power (and warmth) of the Holy
Spirit. Within a couple of days, Mike and I made the
transfer. I had never made a rosary in my life. I had no
idea what was involved. I was completely relying on the Holy
Spirit to guide me. I continue to rely on the Holy Spirit.
It is my faith in the Trinity which leads me on.
God Bless You
Real Good!
I hope you have a
story to tell. Please share it for the next issue.
